Now that I have completed the media bridging units I feel like I have more of an idea on what to expect in the upcoming year.
I now know how to create a blog and after each post I am becoming more and more familiar with the format of it. I also think I have developed my independent learning, as this is something I normally struggle with.
Out of all the tasks I enjoyed analysing the TV drama the most. I enjoy watching television anyway and analysing it made it more interesting, and after I realised how clever the writers and producers etc. all are, which is not something that I would normally think about.
I also enjoyed analysing the magazine cover but had trouble trying to upload it, which brought up concerns for next year, I realised that I may have trouble with using different programmes then transferring them to blogger.
However, I am fairly confident about starting the AS media course as I was able to carry out most of the tasks with ease. And I am thoroughly looking forward to continue completing media tasks ahead and have little concerns about them.

The Media Guardian
http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/aug/31/frankie-boyle-paralympics-twitter-jokes
The above article is about the controversial comedian Frankie Boyle who is being axed from Channel 4 after his jokes about Paralympic athletes on twitter.
Channel 4 backed him after he made a joke about Katie Price's disabled son, Harvey, but the recent outrage that the comedian has caused is apparently the last straw for them.
Boyle joked about the Saudi Arabian Paralympians as being "mainly thieves" and Paralympics GB high jumper's performance as "Taliban assisted".
The Channel 4 broadcaster said in a statement: "Frankie Boyle is not under contract with Channel 4 and we don't have any shows planned with him."
The comedian remained unapologetic, describing his jokes as "celebratory, not discriminatory, pretty funny" on twitter.
The reason I found this article interesting is because the Olympics and Paralympics are huge events that are seen worldwide so strike up many opinions by lots of different people. This is also recent news that has gained lots of media attention. Personally I don't view Frankie Boyle's work as "comedy", I believe that he is extremely offensive and I'm glad that Channel 4 is finally doing something to punish him for his harsh words.

Ruth Rendell's 13 Steps Down
13 Steps Down
13 Steps Down is an ITV two part television drama based on the novel by Ruth Rendell. It is centred around the main character, Mix Cellini, who lives in the upstairs apartment of an old Victorian house on Notting Hill. As the story progresses the audience discovers that Cellini is strangely infatuated with serial killer John Christie, and has a dangerous obsession with a local model Nerissa Nash.

Main Cast Members:
Mix Cellini, played by Luke Treadaway, is a lonely young man who repairs gym equipment for a living. He has a peculiar admiration for John Christie's "work" and believes that he is a genius. He has strange fantasies about model Narissa Nash, telling strangers that she is his girlfriend. This obsession leads him to murder receptionist Danila Kovic, played by Victoria Bewick, and suspicious landlady Gwendolen Chawcer. The audience is lead to believe that Cellini has psychological problems.
Gwendolen Chawcer, played by Geraldine James, is landlady to the psychopath Mix Cellini. She spends most of her time conversing with her two friends and writing to her long lost love. Further into the thriller the audience understands that she becomes more and more suspicious of her tenant and asks him to leave, sadly her forcefulness leads her to be murdered and buried under the floorboards.
Nerissa Nash, played by Elarica Gallacher, is a model who unfortunately lives local to her stalker Mix Cellini. All through the programme she is aware of this, but just ignores it as it has happened before and they fell out of interest, however Cellini is eager to meet her and speaks to her on regular occasions. Only then does Nerissa feel threatened by him and calls her friend for help. In the final episode of this thriller Mix turns up at her doorsteps and enters her home, he strikes fear into her and the police are called to arrest him.
My Response:
I thoroughly enjoyed this gripping thriller and found it difficult to place my eyes anywhere apart from the television screen. It was well acted and the story line kept me on my toes, making it very hard not to continue watching to find out what will happen next.

Media Reprenentation
Media Representation
Actual Definition:
Representation refers to the construction in any medium (especially the mass media) of aspects of ‘reality’ such as people, places, objects, events, cultural identities and other abstract concepts. Such representations may be in speech or writing as well as still or moving pictures.
My Definition:
The media is any form of communication that can be transmitted to many people. This can be in the form of television, music, books and film. There are certain groups that are treated differently in their presentations in the media and the effect is that they are treated differently in society. For example: We often stereotype Indian people as owning a corner shop, this is because this image is bombarded on us in the media, e.g. on popular television soaps such as EastEnders and Coronation Street.
